Less Stress on Your Wedding Day

I get it. Weddings are a LOT of work!! That’s why I’ve come up with some tips and tricks to help you during the day of so that you can get the most out of your day and your photographer. With so many important moments and people, having a well-informed photographer will help - meaning you’ll get ALL of the photos you want, and even more!

Send an Invitation

Invitations are created so that your guests know what time to be there and where. But they also set the tone for your big day. Plus, this will help your photographer prepare for the style and mood of your wedding. Another plus? Sending an invitation to your photographer means they can bring it with them on the day of to include in your detail shots!

Keep it all Together

Speaking of details, do try to keep all of them together. Getting ready the morning of your wedding has the tendency to be chaotic. And since you have so much going on, this would be the perfect time for your “tog” to slip away and take photos of your meaningful details and accessories. Make sure your rings, jewelry, cufflinks, garter, letters, vows, bouquets, etc., are in an easily accessible location so your photographer can grab them and go instead of trying to find everything last minute. The last thing you need is more interruptions. Organization is the key here.

Nominate a Friend

It’s time for family and group photos and Uncle Bill keeps running off to the bar. Assuming that your photographer doesn’t know all your aunts, uncles, and grandparents, this is when it’s important to have a “Know-Them-All” friend or family member to help gather and group all the important people that are to be in the picture. A shoot list including names of family groupings are a good idea. This can help both your photographer and friend move along smoothly and get everyone to the party!

Phood and Photography

(Do you see what I did there? Ha!)

Feeding your photographer (and some of your other key vendors) is a must, but so is the timing! The majority of people do not like having their picture taken when they’re chomping down on lobster tail or wiping barbeque sauce off their face. So by arranging to have their food served while you’re eating, you’re being more efficient. When you’re done eating, it’s time to cut the cake, mingle, and dance. Since your photographer ate when you did, they’ll be ready to jump up and go without ever missing anything important.

Who Are Your Vendors?

This is super important for any couple who plan on having their photos featured on a blog, magazine, or website. After all, your big day wouldn’t exist without the vendors you picked, and they deserve credit! When photographers submit your photos for publication, all of this information will be asked for along with contact information. If you love your vendor, chances are somebody else will too. Share the love!

Credit Your Photographer on Social Media

If you found your photographer online chances are that’s how other couples will find them as well. Believe it or not, but tags and links on social media are a HUGE way your photographer generates referrals. AKA New business!! Whether it’s just one image on Instagram or a whole Facebook Photo Album, take a minute to add your photographer’s website or tag them in the pictures so your friends can click through your photographer’s profile. Crediting your photographer is much more appreciated than you think.

With Much love,

Alyece xoxo
